Jayden ASOFIA award

Earlier this year Projects Queensland,(PQ), received ASOFIA awards for retail fitouts for TAG Heuer, Louis Vuitton and one for the fitout of Sunland’s Group’s National office – all Brisbane projects.

Late August ASOFIA (Qld) held its AGM and breakfast function with cricketing legend Matthew Hayden fielded as guest speaker. Another award for PQ on a distinctively personal level was announced at this gathering of industry heavyweights.

Jetting in from Perth, 19yo, PQ shop-fitting apprentice Jayden Wood was on hand to collect the ASOFIA Queensland Apprentice of the year. Jayden is working on PQ’s contract for the fitout of Gucci’s new Perth store. PQ’s senior project manager and estimator Craig Stewart accompanied Jayden to this ASOFIA function. He said Matthew Hayden spoke on his many experiences, not only as a Test cricketer but also on the ups and downs of his life – especially having his boat overturn on the notorious Jumpin Pin bar with his mate Andrew Symonds and swimming for their lives to safety.

“Without a doubt this ASOFIA award for Jayden will surely go down as one of his up moments as he commences the start of his working life. PQ is delighted to have an apprentice like Jayden who is enthusiastic, exceeds our expectations in all the work projects he undertakes and who is willing to learn as much as he can”, observed Craig.

PQ’s General Manager, Manuel Pena said the decision to fly Jayden across the continent to pick up his national award was something the company was delighted to arrange – he got time off from a prestigious project to pickup a prestigious award – a great outcome for a nineteen your old.

“We are very proud of his achievements”, said Manuel, “the opportunities for his career in the shop-fitting business are boundless and having apprentices like Jayden is just so important for the industry”.
